Intoe Specialist

Intoe Q & A

What is intoe?
Intoe is when the feet are turned inwards when walking. Intoe is usually observed when a child starts to walk. The child may trip frequently. The child may also complain that their legs feel tired.

What causes intoe?
Intoe is caused by the bones of the legs or feet turning inwards. If your child sits like a "W", this may also cause intoe gait. Try to refrain from your child sitting like a "W".

How is intoe treated?
Never allow your child to sit like a "W". Encourage your child to sit "indian style" instead as this helps encourage the legs and feet to turn outwards. Bracing and custom molded orthotics may be used to treat intoe as well. Call us to make an appointment today with our board certified experienced foot doctor at Elite Stride Foot and Ankle Center.
